Neuware - The Indian power generation industry has undergone a paradigm shift during the past two decades largely due to private sector participation and restructuring of the sector. In order to assess the performance of the power generation sector, the present study takes data of 14 major states in…India for the period 2000 to 2007 and estimates a stochastic translog production frontier. The decline in technical efficiency of the Indian power generation sector, as obtained from the econometric estimation, appears to indicate that it has failed to bring the desired results in terms of efficiency improvement. The total factor productivity (TFP) of the power generation industry, which includes technical change, technical efficiency change, and scale change, however, has shown some improvement. Technical efficiency of the power generation industry is explained by technical manpower employed, per capita state domestic product, year of unbundling of State Electricity Boards (SEBs) and time variable which will open new dimensions for young scholars. The study concludes that inefficiency in Indian power sector is caused by the above mentioned factors rather than stochastic error.

Energies of boundary orbitals (HOMO, LUMO) and dipole moments of isolated molecules of OIn as well as changes of atomic charges on OIn atoms when OIn molecule adsorbed have been computed using semi-empiric MNDO quantum chemistry method. Found correlations between EPA and changes of electric charge on heteroatoms (as N, O.), also change in value of dipole moment and in total molecular charge due to adsorption of OIn on the metal surface were most significant. Data on efficiencies against hydrogen absorption by steel were compared to data obtained from quantum chemistry for individual molecules. The material put together in this book is due to my father (the Academic at Russian Academy of Sci.) S.M. Beloglazov's inspiration and leadership. 76 pp. Englisch.

The purpose of this work was to fill the gap by inve…stigating the legitimacy of the CSR awards given to the oil multinationals. Using ExxonMobil and its recognitions as the main case study, the paper examined the CSR awards the company received in health and safety and environmental performance between 2003 and 2010. The findings revealed surprising results, such as more than 70% of 226 CSR awards that ExxonMobil received between 2003 and 2010, came from 5 award-giving entities. After a careful analysis of data, the principal conclusion of the study was that the awards ExxonMobil received in health and safety and environment were not representative of its true CSR record. Partially due to the weak methodology and criteria that the award-giving entities used; this resulted in adumbration of essential elements of achievement recognition: legitimacy and merit. The findings have important implications for thinking about the CSR and the awards given to the oil companies. 80 pp. Englisch.

We use simulated data to study the bias of factor analytic estimates and model fit indices when data clustering is fully or partly ignored. Robustness of different estimators, such as maximum likelihood, weighted least squares and Markov chain Monte Carlo is also presented. In the second part, we analyse two real datasets containing responses to the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) to show the differences when the data are analysed using the correct multilevel approach rather than a traditional aggregated analysis. 100 pp. Englisch.

For this purpose the incorporation of the Charter of Fundamental Rights, the possible accession of the EU to the ECHR and the offers of the constitutional treaty on human rights for third countries are discussed throughout the book. This study within 5 healthcare facilities within the Accra and Tema Metropolitan areas in Ghana focused on the practice from generation to disposal, a review of the draft national guidelines on Healthcare waste, roles of other government agencies and the adoption of appropriate management options. HCW was not well managed. The system lacked the necessary safety measures. Treatment and disposal methods within and outside the healthcare premises were not satisfactory. A national law to promote, monitor standards and address issues of non-compliance was lacking. An integrated management system is required. The analysis has highlighted gaps and the way forward for handling healthcare waste in developing countries and should also benefit academicians and professionals in waste management, public health and environmental science. 92 pp. Englisch.

They are non-sporing, and are usually motile by means of one or more subpolar flagella. Most Legionella species are short rods but some…strains have filamentous forms. They do not grow on ordinary media but will grow on media supplemented with L-cysteine and ferric salts. Legionella was isolated from four different samples. The samples from which isolation occurred were called Legionella-positive samples. The most common habitats from which Legionella was isolated were cooling towers and water tanks. 20% of the water tanks/tap water and 60% of the cooling towers were Legionella-positive samples. The species, most commonly found in the isolates was Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1. Both the Legionella counts (DFA) and the microorganisms counts (FITC) were found to be statistically significant (p 0.05) higher in Legionella- positive samples than in Legionella-negative samples. Other factors were found to affect the growth of Legionella including incubation, sedimentation, solar irradiation and the presence of Amoebae. 104 pp. Englisch.
