Attitudes were investigated using the Opinions on Mental Illness (OMI) questionnaire (Cohen and Struening, 1959), where sub-scales within the questionnaire were… used to measure five factors that underlie attitudes towards mental illness . It was found that there was a significant difference in overall attitudes towards mental illness between Syria and UK, with Syrian participants holding more positive attitudes than UK participants. Also, there was a significant difference in sub-scale scores between Syria and UK and a significant interaction between attitude and country. The study concluded that positive attitudes towards mental illness are driven by religious kindliness and moral beliefs; and negative aspects of attitudes are rooted in a conviction that mental illness is motivated. It is suggested that investigating the different factors that underlie attitudes would be useful in guiding awareness campaigns on ways to counteract stigmatisation of mental illness.

The undertaken project points at designing and implementing a prototype face recognition system with respect to ageing. In this project, the ageing impact is taken as the main factor. The system tends to nullify the effect of ageing on the recognition of a person. The underlying technology used is the Eigen-based face recognition method. While designing the system, factors like inexpensiveness, user-friendliness and ease of integration were considered in the development of this software.

While in flourishing times it was used to maintain the ongoing system, in the later periods it became a tool to criticize the corruption and lack of order. The general purpose of this study i…s to apply the general framework of the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB), explain attitudes, intention and dry fish consumption in Chittagong city and to extend the traditional TPB-model with some additional variables; perceived risk, knowledge, price and cost. The findings showed that attitude, norms and procedural knowledge emerge as the key determinants of intention, while intention, attitude, norms and perceived risk effect on the consumption frequency. PBC, price and cost had no significant effect on intention and dry fish consumption. Perceived quality is found as the most important attribute to forming consumers attitude towards dry fish consumption. The proposed TPB and the extended model both of them fit well with the data and proved the expectations of this study in a promising way. 100 pp. Englisch.

The study employs Granger based vector autoregression analysis to…investigate this relationship. Results show that there is a bi-directional causal relationship between external debt and economic growth, indicating feedback effects between the two variables. Furthermore, a uni-directional causal relationship running from external debt to FDI was identified, buttressing the idea that Zimbabwe faces a debt overhang problem. Estimations of variance decomposition found statistically significant relationships between external debt, FDI and economic growth. Evidence from impulse response functions shows that the external debt shock significantly explains fluctuations in FDI and economic growth. 92 pp. Englisch.
