The book begins with the homesteading of land and the building of a home in the shadows of the mighty Tetons on Flat Creek. It continues down through the development of the elk refuge in Jackson Hole from the start when the Government purchased 1,760 acres of land to the present time when the refuge encompasses some 20,030 acres. The story tells of the ranchers & mountain men alike who battle the massive elk herds, the long hard winters, and the oncoming of civilization to the country. The book is a recounting of the breadth and depth of the Jackson Hole country, told in a manner that will keep you from putting this book down until you have read it in its entirety. Based in Hawaii, much of his work involves underwater scenes. A significant number of… Lassen's paintings feature whales and dolphins in space - 'space whale art'. He is notable for his extensive use of licensing and brand partnerships. His licensed products included stationary, puzzles, posters and a CD-Rom. In the 1990s, Lassen produced works in a collaboration with Disney Art Editions featuring Disney characters. He also had licensing deals with Panasonic and American Greetings, even painted cars for Lamborghini. In 2002, he had 70 licenses for various products and employed a licensing staff to explore new deals. Large folio-sized hardcover has blue cloth boards, gold lettering on front and spine, with a faux artists' signature on rear board, in a complete dust jacket. Jacket has indents from book being used as a writing pad and also shows wear along edges. Interior is complete, clean, and mostly unmarked. The author inscribed the book with a gold marker on ffep, and the description of his effort in painting "Majesty III" on page 19 is almost completely underlined with a fine point blue marker.
