Remnant stub of missing text leaf pages 196[a]-196[b] with a laser printed facsimile of each page now laid-in. Hardcover: H 18.75cm x L 11.5cm. Contemporary full calf leather; both boards only tenuously attached with long splits at joints; boards well scuffed and edge-worn; spine ends chipped and worn even with text block's top and bottom edges; spine's surface leather abraded; spine retains its gilt lettered red title label; "1" stamped in black in spine's center compartment. Antiquarian ink ownership inscription "John H. Lewis | atto. at Law" on front pastedown; toning/foxing throughout with some soiling, stains; some creased/curled corners. A few quires slightly pulled but text block itself remains reasonably firm. Among the earlier American Blackstone editions. Book now presented in a trimmed clear Dura-Lar (polyester film) sheet forming a dj which aids the securing the boards and modestly enhances the book's shelf appearance.
