WITH THE LAST CORRECTIONS OF THE AUTHOR; AND WITH NOTES AND ADDITIONS BY EDWARD CHRISTIAN, ESQUIRE, CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE ISLE OF ELY, AND THE DOWNING PROFESSOR OF THE LAWS OF ENGLAND IN THE UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE. [7], 1-455, i-xxxv pages. Hardcover: H 18.75cm x L 11.25cm. Contemporary full calf leather; front board only tenuously attached by single binding string; rear board detached; boards well scuffed, stained, and edge-worn; shallow losses to spine head with heel worn even with text block; spine's surface leather abraded with some chips; loss to right bottom corner of spine's red title label affecting concluding gilt lettering; "3" stamped in black in spine's center compartment. Antiquarian ink ownership inscription "John H. Lewis | atto. at Law" on front pastedown; toning/foxing throughout with some soiling, stains; some creased/curled corners. A few center quires slightly pulled but text block remains reasonably firm. Among the earlier American Blackstone editions. Book now presented in a trimmed clear Dura-Lar (polyester film) sheet forming a dj which aids the securing the boards and modestly enhances the book's shelf appearance. (Vol. I with the same Boston et al 1818 imprint is also available.).…
