Paperback. Condición: new. Paperback. The American AZ Hive The American AZ Hive is full of basic information on the AZ hive from the perspective of the author, Debra. The book gives a realistic look at how the AZ hive functions in simple terms and answers the common questions asked about the AZ hive. It includes some basic history of the AZ hive and information about what the hive and beehouse are like, as well as how the hive works and how to work in the AZ hive. It also includes some designs for the hive and accessories that Debra is using. She chose to write about the American version of the AZ hive as that size of frame is most relatable within the U.S. and the design she uses due to no lifting and protection from the weather.Debra Langley-Boyer Tahuya, Washington StateDebra lives in the Pacific Northwest woods with her husband, Dean. She has a small pasture for her chickens and bees. She started learning about beekeeping in 2016 by taking classes, joining a local club and volunteering at their apiary. In 2017 she designed and built her own AZ hives, worked club bees, and then got her first bees in the late spring. She has obtained her Journeyman & Master certifications. Her love for education has kept her busy teaching, presenting and running Facebook group -AZ Hives- Pacific Northwest. In May of 2023 she took a trip to Slovenia to study beekeeping in Slovenia as AZ hives are predominant and started there. Debra loves beekeeping and her AZ hives. Debra grew up in a military family moving several times. She always had many animals from bunnies, birds, dogs, cats to horses and llamas. She has always done outdoor activities such as camping, hiking and fishing. As an adult Debra was a teacher and active volunteer in a variety of areas such as Camp Fire, kids & teens activities, scholarships for others, crisis line, outdoor & environmental education, Leave No Trace and llama packing. She continues volunteering and educating now with bees, her latest hobby. Her future plans include continuous learning, teaching about bees and the AZ hives. This item is printed on demand. The Beekeepers Quarterly - Gold medal winner for the best beekeeping magazine at the World Beekeeping Awards 2025Reconnect to the wider beekeeper community with this quarterly guide to beekeeping - with news, views, and research exploring today's big issues. With a powerhouse team of international contributors - ranging from amateur and commercial beekeepers to scientists and conservationists - they share real-world expertise, evidence-based sustainable practice, and cutting-edge research. We dive deep into the topics that matter: beekeeping, pests and diseases, research, the climate and environment, farming, conservation, and much more. With fascinating stories about bees in international development, pollinators, history, and the arts.A must-read for beekeepers, scientists, and educators alike, you will find yourself referring to The Beekeepers Quarterly all year long, revisiting it again and again, as you discover ways to enhance, inform and inspire your beekeeping practice. The leading international and independent beekeeping journal, The Beekeepers Quarterly is where your beekeeping passion meets progress. At long last, we see a little sunshine after what seems to have been a cold, dark and wet winter. Whilst the weather may waver between a lion and lamb this March, spring inspections are now underway - and, despite the slow start, in other years, we have seen swarms by April. How have your colonies fared? Will you look to develop new ways to manage your bees, or hope to repeat last year's successes? This March, Norman considers spring trapping the yellow-legged Asian hornet, the development of one such trap from Nigel Shipton, and practical thoughts from longstanding contributor and Breton, Job Pichon, who has lived alongside these bee devils for some years.Honey fraud may be an age-old story but, sadly, it is big business. Too often, we lament "how can they sell honey so cheaply in the supermarket?" Leading the charge on honey authenticity, Lynne Ingram reports from HAN, and Tara Chapman urges us to educate our customers on the benefits and qualities of our high quality honey.Maybe some of you met Norman at the recent Beekeeping Show in Telford. We will both be on the Beekeepers Quarterly stand at the BBKA spring convention, so do pop over to say "hello!".We are hoping for a better season this year, when the weather is kinder to us and our bees. May the spring be kind to you too. This item is printed on demand. Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability.…

Paperback. Condición: new. Paperback. Challenging and entertaining. The historical knowledge Simon presents is as wide-ranging as it is fascinating. Doubtless some of this will be new to you, as it is to me. But even when the subject under discussion is music I know well, I'm being encouraged to think of it in a different way.' - Andrew Parrott This is a history book concerned with the future of classical music. In its traditional guise, classical music can appear to be a thing of fixity and tradition - and of ageing, dwindling audiences. But what its history shows us is a process both fluid and vibrant, which might inspire and encourage those invested in classical music's ongoing health. In this book Simon Ravens offers countless historical examples of the radically varied ways in which classical music has been made and received. From inspiration, through preparation, to performance and reception, the author traces each stage in the musical process. Drawing on material from every period and of every kind, he shows how our received traditions of music-making are rigid in a way which would mystify composers, performers and listeners of the past. The book offers no dogmatic agenda, but instead aims to probe and question our received traditions.Simon Ravens is a writer, performer and teacher. His first book, The Supernatural Voice - a history of high male singing, was BBC Music Magazine's Book of the Month, and has become the seminal book on the subject. As director of Musica Contexta, he performed throughout Britain and Europe, regularly broadcast, and made numerous acclaimed recordings. As a teacher, and in his YouTube videos, Simon encourages students to explore performance beyond the strictures of the standard educational framework.REVIEWS FOR THE SUPERNATURAL VOICE'.an excellent book, a must read. I might even say it is the book I have been waiting to read for the last 25 years.' - Nicholas Clapton, Early Music'This unparalleled piece of scholarship provides the reader with an entrancing exploration of an often-misunderstood and much-debated topic. easily comprehensible writing infused with an entertaining wit.' - John P. Rakes, Choral Journal'It's a convoluted story, but Ravens unravels it with admirable clarity in this fascinating and impressive book.' - Graham Lock, Agora Classical Review'Ravens skillfully synthesizes and interprets a dizzying amount of information to give the clearest account available. a work of significance. Highly recommended.' - S. C. Champagne, CHOICE This is a history book concerned with the future of classical music. Paperback. Condición: new. Paperback. This is not a practical manual, but a book of essays at the crossroads of nature, culture, and thought.Drawing on mythology, literature, art history, and contemporary science, The Art of Beekeeping examines how bees have shaped human imagination, agriculture, and ethics for thousands of years. For Weiner Sennyey, the practice of apiculture opens a path toward ecotherapy and biophilia - a renewed love of nature grounded in attention, humility, and care.First published in two Hungarian editions, this book now appears in English for the first time in Deborah Marshall's translation. In an age of ecological crisis, these essays offer neither easy solutions nor sentimentality, but something rarer: a language for thinking clearly, and living sanely, in an increasingly fragile world.
