Hardcover. Condición: As New. Estado de la sobrecubierta: As New. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. Signed. 104 pages. Published in 2014. Retrospective collection of color photographs. One of the most important art photography books of our time. The First Hardcover Edition. Precedes and should not be confused with all other subsequent editions. Published in a small and limited first print run as a hardcover original only. The First Edition is now scarce. A brilliant production by Joachim Brohm and Gregoire Pujade-Lauraine: Oversize-volume format. Mustard cloth boards with orange titles embossed on cover and spine, as issued. Photographs by Joachim Brohm. Text by Ulf Erdmann Ziegler in the German original and felicitous English translation. Printed on pristine-white, thick coated stock paper in Leipzig, Germany to the highest standards. The reproduction quality is exemplary in every respect. In protective glassine DJ, as issued. Presents Joachim Brohm's "Typology 1979". The Becher aesthetic and method, just as rigorously applied to the drab, suburban dwelling called "allotment sheds", found in 1979 in the Ruhr Valley Region of Germany. Joachim Brohm, who rose to prominence in the early 1980's, was one of the pioneering photographers to photograph in color, connecting the everyday cultural landscape with the new possibilities of color photography. "Influenced by the great American photographers such as William Eggleston and Robert Adams, he also looked to Bernd and Hilla Becher, whose typologies are heralded in the collection's title. Joachim Brohm was born 1955 in Dulken, Germany. He lives and works in Leipzig and since 1993, he has been Professor of Photography at Leipzig Hochschule fur Grafik und Buchkunst Academy of Visual Arts" (Publisher's blurb). "No two of the little houses are the same. Carefully proportioned furnishings here are wildly contradicted with slapdash decorations over there. Everyone has thought about their buildings, brought materials, laid walls, used power drills, insulated, glued things, extended the previous tenant's shed, retro-fitted a bigger window, added a television antenna. They are strange hybrid buildings, between tool sheds and dachas, gingerbread houses and orangeries" (Ulf Erdmann Ziegler). An absolute "must-have" title for Joachim Brohm collectors. This copy is very boldly and beautifully signed in pencil on the title page by Joachim Brohm. It is signed directly on the page itself, not on a tipped-in page. This title is an art photography classic. This is one of very few such signed copies of the First Hardcover Edition/First Printing still available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. A scarce signed copy thus. 35 color plates. One of the most important photographers of our time. A fine copy. ISBN 1907946640. Signed by Author.…
