Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. 1st Edition. First Edition (NAP). Signed and inscribed on the first front end paper ( 'To Mr. H.E. Spitsbergen, with compliments of Spencer Heath'). You can see the covers in the photos. The front cover has a few small areas of color fading. The gilt design on the front is very bright, same goes for the gilt lettering on the spine. The edges and corners look very good. The page edges are clean. The book is square (the spine is straight) and very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout. There are no binding issues. The pages are exceptionally clean. In scrolling through I didn't see any instances of soiling. There is a uniform toning at the margins. I'm not seeing any conspicuous creasing. There's a three page fold-out titled Hypothetical Distribution Of National Income which is in excellent condition. There is a tiny little bookseller stamp (Bell's Books, Palo Alto) off the bottom edge of the rear inside cover. Off the bottom edge of the front inside cover there is a tiny bookseller label. There are no other markings or attachments to be found anywhere in the book. And with the exception of the author's signed inscription, no one has written their name or anything else anywhere. 'A welcome exposition of fundamental, hard-hitting libertarian principle'---The National Review 'It is impossible to express my delight. This is the book I have been wanting, waiting for, indeed weakly yelling in print for: an empirical, scientific approach to 'social science'. I am happier than larks ever were, now that it is written.'-- Rose Wilder Lane 'A book of the first importance. An outstanding contribution to a crucial problem of our time.'-- Roscoe Pound, Dean Emeritus Harvard Law School. 'Spencer Heath was an American engineer, attorney, inventor, manufacturer, horticulturalist, poet, philosopher of science and social thinker. A dissenter from Georgist economic views, he pioneered the theory of proprietary governance and community in his book Citadel, Market and Altar. His grandson, Spencer Heath MacCallum, popularized and expounded on his ideas, most notably in his book The Art of Community.'. Inscribed by Author(s).

Evergreen?s genius lay in its ability to mix radical American voices from the literary and social fringes with a global cast of writers, many of whom were introduced to American readers by the magazine. The magazine was often shocking, always intriguing. It featured some of the finest writing available, by writers whose influence continues to shape contemporary literature. (U.P.).

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Near Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. 1st Edition. First Edition (NAP). Signed and inscribed on the first front end paper to the former Assistant Secretary Of War and US High Commissioner to Postwar Germany, John J. McCloy. The inscription reads 'To Mr. John J. McCloy, With the very high compliments of Spencer Heath, November, 1957' ). You can see the covers of the book in the photos. They are quite clean. The gilt design on the front is very bright, same goes for the gilt lettering on the spine. The edges and corners are in excellent shape, no rubbing on the edges, one speck-sized spot of rub-through on the inside front covers bottom corner. The page edges are clean. The book is square and the spine looks pretty straight. The binding is very solid from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. The text pages are exceptionally clean. In scrolling through I didn't see any instances of soiling. There is some light spotting just off the top edges of the front inside cover and facing signed front end paper. I'm not seeing any conspicuous creasing, no placeholder creases. On a dozen or so consecutive pages there is a very light and tiny crease just below the tips of their top corners. There's a three page fold-out titled Hypothetical Distribution Of National Income which is in excellent condition. There are no markings or attachments to be found anywhere in the book. And there is no writing other than the author's signed inscription. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It is in decent enough shape, though it has several flaws accounting for my only Good Minus rating. It looks pretty clean, though there is toning in a few places. The flaws are: the small loss off the top edge of the spine, the chip and small tear off the top edge of the rear, a thin tear off the top edge at the juncture between the rear cover and rear flap, a tiny tear off the top edge of the rear flap, and some erosion of the paper off the top and middle edge of the rear cover including two tiny holes. The flaps are in solid condition, toning off the top edges. The jacket is NOT priced-clipped, not clipped at all. I have it in a fitted protective cover. Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Fair. No Jacket. 4th Edition. This 1845 printing is the "Fourth Edition Revised and Corrected, from the Eighth Paris Edition." Original blindstamped dark brown boards, while well worn to corners, remain well attached. However, 2/5ths of the spine covering ("backstrip") is missing, and what remains -- including the gilt author and title, and half the eagle -- was "positioned" for our scan but is actually "loose" -- this copy clearly requires a new spine covering, to which this original gilt title and author name could then presumably be "laid down." Although the text is never obscured or rendered hard to read, the interior text pages show considerable foxing to their edges, occasionally extending onto the text itself. This was the copy of T.L. Chadbourne, who (in addition to writing his name in pencil to original yellow FFE) has stamped "Chadbourne." in ink, now browned, to bottom of title page. T.L. Chadbourne was likely Thomas Lincoln Chadbourne, an American lawyer who played a significant role in establishing multinational corporations during the 1920s and was involved in efforts to restore commodity prices after the Great Depression. He was the founder of the law firm Chadbourne & Parke, which was established in New York City in 1902. However, "T.L. Chadbourne" was also the name of the lieutenant after whom Fort Chadbourne, a United States Army reservation established in Texas in 1852, was named. The fort was established to protect from the Apache the western frontier and the Butterfield Overland Mail route. Lieutenant T.L. Chadbourne was killed in the Battle of Resaca de la Palma, the 1846 battle in which Gen. Zachary Taylor threw the larger Mexican army out of Texas. Laid in to this copy, oddly enough, is a 1953 Walter Lippmann column from the New York Herald Tribune, on the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. 494 pp. including the Appendices. As with all our items priced higher than $90, this item will be shipped "signature required." This book now reduced from $160.
