Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. A very good copy of the hard cover edition in a like (not price-clipped) dust-jacket. Save for three lines highlighted on the first page of the preface, the text is wholly unmarked, pristine, and the binding and jacket are still rather bright and fresh in appearance, with minor wear and fraying at the extremities of the jacket. A sharp copy.

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. 1st Edition. First Edition (NAP). Signed and inscribed on the first front end paper ( 'To Mr. H.E. Spitsbergen, with compliments of Spencer Heath'). You can see the covers in the photos. The front cover has a few small areas of color fading. The gilt design on the front is very bright, same goes for the gilt lettering on the spine. The edges and corners look very good. The page edges are clean. The book is square (the spine is straight) and very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout. There are no binding issues. The pages are exceptionally clean. In scrolling through I didn't see any instances of soiling. There is a uniform toning at the margins. I'm not seeing any conspicuous creasing. There's a three page fold-out titled Hypothetical Distribution Of National Income which is in excellent condition. There is a tiny little bookseller stamp (Bell's Books, Palo Alto) off the bottom edge of the rear inside cover. Off the bottom edge of the front inside cover there is a tiny bookseller label. There are no other markings or attachments to be found anywhere in the book. And with the exception of the author's signed inscription, no one has written their name or anything else anywhere. 'A welcome exposition of fundamental, hard-hitting libertarian principle'---The National Review 'It is impossible to express my delight. This is the book I have been wanting, waiting for, indeed weakly yelling in print for: an empirical, scientific approach to 'social science'. I am happier than larks ever were, now that it is written.'-- Rose Wilder Lane 'A book of the first importance. An outstanding contribution to a crucial problem of our time.'-- Roscoe Pound, Dean Emeritus Harvard Law School. 'Spencer Heath was an American engineer, attorney, inventor, manufacturer, horticulturalist, poet, philosopher of science and social thinker. A dissenter from Georgist economic views, he pioneered the theory of proprietary governance and community in his book Citadel, Market and Altar. His grandson, Spencer Heath MacCallum, popularized and expounded on his ideas, most notably in his book The Art of Community.'. Inscribed by Author(s).

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Near Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. 1st Edition. First Edition (NAP). Signed and inscribed on the first front end paper to the former Assistant Secretary Of War and US High Commissioner to Postwar Germany, John J. McCloy. The inscription reads 'To Mr. John J. McCloy, With the very high compliments of Spencer Heath, November, 1957' ). You can see the covers of the book in the photos. They are quite clean. The gilt design on the front is very bright, same goes for the gilt lettering on the spine. The edges and corners are in excellent shape, no rubbing on the edges, one speck-sized spot of rub-through on the inside front covers bottom corner. The page edges are clean. The book is square and the spine looks pretty straight. The binding is very solid from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. The text pages are exceptionally clean. In scrolling through I didn't see any instances of soiling. There is some light spotting just off the top edges of the front inside cover and facing signed front end paper. I'm not seeing any conspicuous creasing, no placeholder creases. On a dozen or so consecutive pages there is a very light and tiny crease just below the tips of their top corners. There's a three page fold-out titled Hypothetical Distribution Of National Income which is in excellent condition. There are no markings or attachments to be found anywhere in the book. And there is no writing other than the author's signed inscription. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It is in decent enough shape, though it has several flaws accounting for my only Good Minus rating. It looks pretty clean, though there is toning in a few places. The flaws are: the small loss off the top edge of the spine, the chip and small tear off the top edge of the rear, a thin tear off the top edge at the juncture between the rear cover and rear flap, a tiny tear off the top edge of the rear flap, and some erosion of the paper off the top and middle edge of the rear cover including two tiny holes. The flaps are in solid condition, toning off the top edges. The jacket is NOT priced-clipped, not clipped at all. I have it in a fitted protective cover. Añadir al carritoTwo unbound bifoliums stapled together. Eight pages, on four leaves each roughly seventeen inches by eleven wide. A corrected proof, stamped at head of first page 'PROOF NO.' A frail survival of a significant document in London topographical history. Aged and worn, with several closed tears. A few manuscript emendations, notes and additions in different hands. For example, concerning a right of way, 'Messrs. Debenham can ascertain this from Mr. Pinder Simpson 20 Old Burlington St. W. the Collector'. 'CB', who comments on another note, 'Is this wanted?', can be identified from another note: 'I have these Part[icu]lars. | C. Bramley | 13 Old Square | May 24th. 1898'. Sir Thomas Spencer Wells (1818-97) was surgeon to the queen's household. According to the Victoria County History of Middlesex, Golders Hill House was built between 1754 and 1796 and was enlarged for Wells in 1875 to the designs of E. F. Clarke. It was acquired by the London County Council in 1898. After its destruction during the Second World War, the grounds were preserved as Golders Hill Park.
