Añadir al carritoSoft cover. Condición: Good. Original publisher's beige paper wrappers with staple binding. Small illustration of a grizzly bear in black ink on front. Printed by the American Printing and Engraving Company of Boston. No date, circa 1890. 4 3/4" x 7." Forty-seven pages, complete. Pages are clean and intact overall but have chips… on front and back that have resulted in a few lost words of text on Page 47 (chips on front are about 1 1/2" x 1/2" and chip on back is about 3 1/4" x 1 1/4"), a chip on Pages 5-6 that have resulted in a few lost words of text on Page 6, darkening on front and back, light age toning throughout, splitting along spine, and purple ink stamp on back ("C. H. Fifield" of Salem, Massachusetts). A Good copy. This is a concise circular promoting a "grand excursion" to California, via train, that will be undertaken by members of the Society of California Pioneers of New England from April 10-May 17, 1890. It is unclear if anyone outside of the Society could join the excursion. The excursion is a transcontinental round-trip from Boston to California and back. Most of the booklet provides a summary of the route of the tour that describes the cities, landmarks, and other locations one will visit on the journey. This summary generally describes each principal location and some of its constituent points of interest and notable features. Following this is a brief itinerary that provides a much more truncated summary of the tour's route in list form. The printed text also gives the contact information of Raymond & Whitcomb agents who can be consulted for any questions about the excursion. The following is the general route of the excursion: Boston, Chicago, Kansas City, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Las Vegas Hot Springs, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Arizona, Southern California, San Bernardino, Redlands, Pasadena and the Raymond, Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose and Santa Clara Valley, Sierra Nevada, Nevada, Utah, Salt Lake City, Spanish Fort Canyon, Soldier Summit, Castle Canyon, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Marshall Pass, Grand Canyon of the Arkansas and Royal Gorge, Manitou Springs and Garden of the Gods, Denver, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Blue Island Junction, Niagara Falls, and Boston. A small section of printed text promotes a side detour to the Big Tree Groves and Yosemite Valley. The rest of the title page reads, "The Trip to be Made in an Elegant Train of Vestibuled Pullman Palace Cars, with Pullman Palace Dining-Cars Included. Price of Tickets (all Traveling Expenses Included), $275.00. The excursion will be carried out under the direction of Capt. William H. Thomes, President, and the Offices of the Society of California Pioneers of New England. Tickets, copies of this circular, and all desired information may be obtained of Raymond & Whitcomb, 296 Washington St., opposite School St., Boston, Mass.".
