Binding is solid and square, covers have sharp corners, exterior shows no blemishes, text/interior is clean and free of marking of any kind. Contains Dostoyevsky's preparatory materials for the Possessed (The Devils) with his drafts, outlines, and notes with struck-out edits in his original papers. Based on the Russian edition edited by E. N. Konshina (1955), it includes facsimile reproductions of the author's original notebook pages. 431 pages, this edition is a translation of The Notebooks of Dostoevsky, ed. by E. N. In the Russian ed. the notes follow the page order of Dostoevsky's notebooks, Dostoevsky jotted down notes on successive pages at widely different times; he would leave pages blank and then return to them with notes months and even years later. This ed. places the notes into an approximate chronological order. Chapters include: Early anticipation of The Possessed, The life of the great sinner, the earlies variant "Envy", The student and Granovsky, The romantic complications, Shaposhnikov and Granovsky against Nechaev, the Prince between Nechaev and Golubov, The Prince in search of faith, The Prince in defense of the Russian idea, etc. Keywords: Drafts, Outlines, Notes, Facsimilie Reproductions, The Posessed, The Devils, Shaposhnikov, Granovsky, Nachaev, Golubov.…
