DJ is in mylar sleeve. Light blue-green cloth, 426pp, frontis portrait of the author. Introduced by Ernest Jones. Dust jacket illustration of a cupid with bow by Andy Warhol, here credited as Andrew Warhol. These three novels are a series of animated tableaux filled with beautiful, eccentric women pursuing pleasure in the most wicked, perverse, irresponsible ways, written by an extraordinary Englishman who dared to be as original in his books as he was in his life. Vainglory, his longest work, was published in 1915. Inclinations (1916) is set mainly in Greece, where the fifteen-year-old Mabel Collins is travelling with her chaperone, Miss O'Brookomore. Mabel elopes with an Italian conte, but the plot is of minor importance and the interest, as with all Firbank's work, lies in the dialogue. His next novel Caprice followed in 1917.
