Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book challenges the perceptions surrounding the negative effects of formal schooling on children. It argues that the deteriorations witnessed in their physical, developmental, and mental health are not inherent to education but rather results of existing schooling methods, teaching approaches, and faulty school designs. As it traces the history of these issues, this book explores the growing influence and concern of physicians and educators over the physical and mental wellbeing of school children. The author asserts that a more scientific approach to both education and schoolhouse design can ameliorate, and even reverse, the physical and developmental maladies frequently attributed to the current systems. Encompassing everything from the impact of poor posture on the spine to the increase in myopia from excessive reading, this book provides essential historical context and insights into the intersection of physical health and education. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
