Sendo assim, o presente estudo verificou a manifestação dos traços patrimonialistas no processo sucessório de empreendimentos brasileiros, descrevendo e analisando em um conjunto de empresas familiares a presença de orientação patrimonialista no processo sucessório dessas organizações. A escolha dos casos foi norteada por critérios de conveniência do pesquisador, especificamente, dentre empreendimentos familiares da região do Grande Rio, nas quais seus dirigentes se dispusessem a participar de um estudo desta natureza. Tratando-se de uma pesquisa analítico-descritiva de orientação subjetivista, optou-se como delineamento do presente trabalho o estudo multicasos. O trabalho respondeu à pergunta quanto ao objetivo proposto de descrever e analisar em que medida, nos casos de sucessão em empresas familiares escolhido para o estudo, há o traço patrimonialista das companhias brasileiras. Evidenciou-se a predominância dos aspectos de orientação patrimonialista, apesar de se identificar certos elementos de como isso se manifesta de forma diferente em algumas empresas.
