Over the course of history, especially the art of philosophy has seen many great thinkers reflecting on the nature of human freedom: Three of them - Plato, René Descartes, and Albert Camus - are the material on which this paper will retrace the development of the interpretation of human freedom. In doing so, it is very important to, first of all, define how Plato, Descartes, and Camus saw human freedom. After that, we can have a look at the key differences that are - or maybe are not - findable when comparing Plato's 'Republic' and Descartes' 'Meditations on First Philosophy', as well as when comparing Descartes' work and Camus' 'The Myth of Sisyphus'. The goal of this analysis is to examine how the conception of human freedom changed from Plato over Descartes to Camus. This is crucial to completing the third and last part of this paper. That will be determining which thinker was most thoroughly committed to the radical questioning of things, that we nowadays hold to be the core value of philosophy. This 'Islamic Finance' industry claims to act in line with the ethical and practical principles set forth in the Qu'ran and the Shari'ah, thus appealing to Muslim and non-Muslim clients alike who search for viable alternatives to conventional financial products. As explained, the first beginnings of this phenomenon can be traced well back into the 1970s when the first 'Islamic Banks' started operating in Egypt and Jordan.In the past decades, a vast amount of research has been published - empirical and theoretical - to review the impacts of Islamic Finance on the financial markets of the Islamic world. These works, to a great deal inspired by the enormous need of the industry for quantitative and qualitative research, all dealt with questions of comparative efficiency of conventional and Islamic Finance, the demand for Shari'ah-compliant financial products, the actual genuineness, or authenticity, of the industry, etc. However, only a very small portion of these research works dealt with the question whether or not the Islamic world actually needs Islamic Finance.At first, this might seem as a trivial question (if there was no need for Islamic Finance, there would not have been this substantial growth). Diese Frage ist nicht nur in Bezug auf das Verständnis der faschistischen Bewegungen des 20. Jahrhunderts interessant, sondern auch im Hinblick auf die Frage, ob es generelle Muster gibt, nach denen politische Gruppen aus bereits vorhandenen Ideen und gesellschaftlichem Denken eine 'eigene' Ideologie konstruieren.Dementsprechend aktuell lässt sich die Frage stellen: Kann man aus Fake-News, Xenophobie und Wutbürgertum eine politische Ideologie formen In unserem Fall soll dieses Beispiel allerdings nur zur Veranschaulichung der Nachhaltigkeit dieser Fragestellung dienen, da der Rahmen der Hausarbeit für derartige Analysen wohl nicht groß genug wäre.Im Verlauf dieser Arbeit wird die Fragestellung durch drei große Analysepunkte beleuchtet: Die Lage Deutschlands nach dem 1. Weltkrieg, die Reaktionen der etablierten staatlichen Institutionen auf die Verbreitung rechten Gedankengutes und zuletzt die Handlungen der faschistischen Parteien auf dem Weg zur Bildung 'ihrer' Ideologie. So soll zunächst geklärt werden, aus welcher Gemengelage heraus die faschistischen Parteien (beziehungsweise die NSDAP) entstanden sind. Die 'Gegenwehr des Rechtsstaates' ist insofern interessant, als sie Aufschluss über die gesellschaftliche Rezeption der faschistischen Ideen gibt. Dabei sollen die Fragen geklärt werden, warum und wie weit sich die K-Gruppen vom Modell der Sowjet-Union entfernten und ob sie sich wirklich dem Maoismus oder eher einem erdachten Idealkommunismus annäherten, der dann in Mao-Bilder und -Zitate hineinprojiziert wurde.Danach soll, angesichts der Kritik der westdeutschen Orthodoxen am Maoismus, beleuchtet werden, ob sich diese Fragen auch die westdeutschen Orthodoxen stellten, und wenn ja, wie sie die Frage nach der Originalität des westdeutschen Maoismus beantworteten. Dies lässt sich in einer Doppelfrage zusammenfassen: Was machten die K-Gruppen aus dem Maoismus und wie wurde dies von den westdeutschen Orthodoxen verstanden Der Kommunismus während des Kalten Krieges war vielfältiger als man denkt, er existierte im 20. Jahrhundert in vielen verschiedenen Varianten. Die beiden größten Leitideologien waren jedoch der 'wissenschaftliche Kommunismus' der UdSSR und die Große Lehre Mao-tse-tungs in China. Diese rangen um den Führungsanspruch der kommunistischen Lehre - so auch in Westdeutschland. In den 1970er Jahren entbrannte unter den westdeutschen Linken eine regelrechte Flut an Diskussionen darüber, welche Ideologie nun den 'echten' Marxismus-Leninismus repräsentiert - was im Großen auf der Weltbühne geschah, lief auch im Kleinen in der BRD ab.Aber handelt es sich hier wirklich um den gleichen Konflikt Zunächst scheint es überraschend, dass es auch in Westdeutschland eine nennenswerte kommunistische Szene gab und tatsächlich beschränkte sich diese auch auf einen relativ kleinen Personenkreis. 24 pp. Deutsch.…

Traditionally, the role of fiscal rules (i.e. caps on debt issuance levels with punishment payments upon violation) has been emphasized in overcoming the root of the problem: that central authorities in federal unions cannot commit to not use their funds to bail out overindebted members at the expense of other members. Dovis & Kirpalani, however, ask an important question: what happens if the central authority also cannot commit to enforcing the fiscal rules In their paper, they show that if the central authority has a low reputation (i.e. low probability of enforcing the fiscal rules and the no-bailout-clause), fiscal rules are not only ineffective, but they can even lead to a higher debt issuance and exacerbate the overborrowing problem.This report aims at outlining Dovis & Kirpalani¿s reasoning for their central claim, thus sketching out their proofs and providing intuition for their results.
