One of the other maps has a tear to the edge (no loss). Foxing (heavy in places) and age toning throughout. Some page corners creased. Some general thumbing and marking throughout. Small ownership stamp of B. Winstone to the title page and verso of frontispiece. The frontispiece has been laid down on another piece of paper when rebound in the 19th century. Frontispiece an title stained and marked, mostly around the edges. Mid 19th century half black leather with both boards detached, spine and edges rubbed and chipped. Cloth sides stained and marked. Externally poor copy. Very fine engravings throughout. The double page plan of Jerusalem is particularly fine. The pages are numbered 1-293, 1-103. The pages are uncut as is usual with a book bound in the publishers boards. the title page is slightly torn along gutter and has some slight staining and marking (no loss). Front free endpaper missing. The publishers paper covered boards are heavily marked, rubbed and stained and the paper covered spine is almost completely gone. The front board is only attached by the strings. Still a fair copy in original condition. A scarce book. Could be put back together. Only two of the five tables present at the end. (ilustrador).

This copy withdrawn from the Signet Library, which is owned and operated by The Society of Writer's to the Signet. While the societythe incorporated body of Scottish lawyersfocuses mainly on legal works for the benefit of the public, the Signet Library is "not only a law library but a repository of books, manuscripts, newspapers, journals and other texts on all aspects of human knowledge and literature". Pennant's work continued to expand and has concreted itself as a classic work of natural history genius in the zoological and taxonomic ranks of Buffon and Linnaeus. Mild to moderate foxing throughout. offsetting to many of the plates, light scuffing to boards. Overall a very good, very handsome copy of this zoological classic. Re-spined in tan morocco with maroon morocco spinel labels, contemporary speckled calf boards, gilt crest for the Society of Writers to the Signet to front boards, top edge stain dark green, all edges trimmed. Reproduced photographs of buildings by L…e Corbusier, Ivan Leonidov, Bohuslav Fuchs, Josef Havli?ek and Karel Honzík, Boris Velikovsky, Marcel Breuer. The magazine was published in three issues between 19291931, featuring modern architecture especially Bauhaus buildings and architects. Karel Teige was one of the most important figures of the Czech avant-garde modernism of the 1920s and 1930s. He was the founder of Dev?tsil, the association of the Czech avant-garde artists. Teige was an active participant in CIAM and he gave guest lectures at the Bauhaus in Dessau from 1929 to 1930. . Minor tears at edges. Otherwise in very good condition. First edition.
