New amplitude distributions are designed and patterns are realized for discrete linear arrays. State of the art algorithms i.e. Nature Inspired Metaheuristic Algorithms are used to obtain these distributions at the source locations. Arrays are further designed to obtain the source locations. The aim of the design is to produce desired radiation patterns using multi objective approach, i.e. to control beamwidth and sidelobe level simultaneously. Studies are also made to synthesize patterns from circular arrays to achieve minimum sidelobe level and high directivity with beamwidth constraint. The same methodology is extended to concentric circular arrays with dipoles as the radiating elements. In addition to the synthesis of desired pattern, by introducing the concept of thinning reduces the cost of the array design significantly.
