The father of American tap-dancing was a black minstrel known professionally as Juba. . Some of the most beautiful women on the American stage early in this century were men, and these female impersonators were not only considered family entertainment, they were among the most highly paid stars in vaudeville. But On with the Show is more than the sum of anecdotes and pictures; it is a new kind of show business book.
