Furthermore, because of plans for massive investments in the public infrastructure, the energy and water supply systems as well in the education and health systems in the future, Saudi Arabia plays an important role as a business partner for German companies like the Siemens AG.Therefore the subject of this study will be the cultural disparities between the Saudi Arabian and German culture. As a first step, the Saudi Arabian Kingdom is compared briefly with the Federal Republic of Germany in a fact file. Afterwards, the term 'culture' in general is elaborated. Then the cultural theory of Geert Hofstede is explained and applied to the two societies.As an inference of this analysis, several possible major improvements in the project team cooperation are described.

As a consequence the question arises how companies follow their expansion strategies. A central issue linked to this question is the entry mode decision, because it is essential for the success of the globalization activities of a company.One possible entry mode is called franchising which is used by a lot of well-known companies worldwide. The focus of this term paper is to evaluate this type of entry mode based on the example of Subway, an international operating fast food chain.To accomplish this purpose, the theory of market entry modes is explained in the beginning. Further an overview of the different entry modes is given in order to highlight the differences between them. After that franchising as a mode of entry is explained in detail. As a result of presenting the theory a profile of Subway follows. Furthermore the market entry strategy of Subway is analyzed regarding the fact how franchising influenced the expansion of the company in general. After that the market entry into the Chinese market and its challenges is explained. To conclude the term paper, the theory and the practical example is summarized in order to outline whether Subway enters new markets efficiently and how franchising as a market entry mode influences the expansion of the company against the backdrop of the example.

Porter. This framework is related to the hypothesis that only generic strategies in their pure form would lead to above average performance in competition. Besides that, other authors described strategy models consisting of combinations of the generic strategies called combination or hybrid strategies although these theories contradict the hypothesis of porter.The purpose of this work is to find evidence for the existence and the performance of hybrid strategies in comparison to generic ones.Therefore the first step is an explanation of competitive advantages. Then the coherence of return on investment and market share is explained. Further competitive advantages are derived from that relationship. After that the generic competitive strategies are annotated as a way to achieve competitive advantages. Besides that the hypothesis of inconsistency concerning hybrid strategies by Porter is explained. In addition the hybrid strategies are elucidated. In the last part of this work evidence for the existence and performance of these strategies shall be proven on an empirical basis by evaluating different studies from different authors.

One theoretica…l framework explaining financial crises of that kind was envisioned by Hyman P. Minsky (1919-1996) in the latter half of the 20th century and was not considered in this context for a long time. The most prominent part of the theoretical framework, the financial instability hypothesis (FIH), emphasises that 'modern capitalist system is prone to bouts of relative instability and financial collapse. When the storm in 2007 broke it was discovered again and the world began to talk about a 'Minsky moment'. Prominent economics called the theory a required reading and championed it as visionary. Therefore it is no surprise that the book about his FIH was traded at prices over 2000 US$ right after the financial crisis.Until the year 2007 the economic world followed another school of thought. The so-called neoclassic described a world in which financial crises would only occur if ex-ogenous shocks would disturb the self-regulating power of the markets. In detail this is called the efficient market hypothesis (EMH). In addition means this that financial crises caused by systemically reason are not part of the theoretical model.On the contrary, Minsky described a cyclical model which tries to implement loan rela-tionships, financial institutions, financial innovations and uncertainty in the analysis of the modern capitalism. An emphasis lays on the financing structure of different eco-nomic players and the role of financial institutions regarding their influence on the real economy. Minsky's theory is based on the whole economic cycle and really tries to explain how financial crises are actually caused. Additionally other authors see the thoughts of Minsky as an acknowledged theory regarding financial crises in the past. Although all these factors make the theory interesting for the recent crisis and different economics had called the financial crisis a Minsky moment a huge discussion if the theory is really applicable came up. Further if the theory is really applicable the next question would be which consequences have been drawn in order to prevent another crisis.

Es zeichnet sich ein verändertes Medien-Nutzungsverhalten der jungen Zielgruppe ab, da die Rate der Internetnutzer und mit ihnen der Social Media-Nutzer in den letzten Jahren rapide angestiegen ist. Es sollen daher die Möglichkeiten und Grenzen des so genannten Social Media-Recruitings (SMR) innerhalb dieser Arbeit erläutert werden. Weitergehend ist es das Ziel dieser Arbeit zu analysieren, inwiefern SMR in Deutschland eine erfolgreiche Personalbeschaffung hinsichtlich der aufkommenden Herausforderungen unterstützen kann.In diesem Zusammenhang wurde Social Media in den letzten fünf Jahren in der Fachpresse als Medium für das Recruiting mehrfach aufgegriffen und diskutiert.Zunächst wird der Begriff Social Media erläutert. Weitergehend wird das Nutzungsverhalten der Deutschen hinsichtlich der Social Media-Kanäle beschrieben, um die Tragweite des Phänomens bezogen auf die Personalbeschaffung begreifen zu können. Darauf aufbauend wird der Begriff Social Media-Recruiting erklärt. Aus diesem Grund wurde die Diskussion um erfolgreiche Wettbewerbsstrategien zur Erreichung von Wettbewerbsvorteilen in den letzten drei Jahrzehnten immer lauter. Im Zuge dessen entwickelte Michael Porter die generischen Wettbewerbsstrategien. Gleichzeitig stellte er die Hypothese auf, dass nur durch diese Wettbewerbsstrategien überdurchschnittliche Renditen am Markt erwirt-schaftet werden könnten.Im Laufe der wissenschaftlichen Diskussion zu diesem Thema entwickelten andere Autoren die sogenannten hybriden Wettbewerbsstrategien, welche als Mischformen der generischen Strategien fungieren. Fraglich bleibt an dieser Stelle jedoch, ob hybride Strategien zu überdurchschnittlichem Profit eines Unternehmens führen können.In der vorliegenden Arbeit sollen zunächst allgemein Wettbewerbsvorteile definiert werden. Daraufhin werden theoretische Überlegungen über einen Zusammenhang von Marktanteilen und der Rentabilität eines Unternehmens erläutert. Daraus abgeleitet werden die generischen Wettbewerbsstrategien nach Porter vorgestellt. Im Zuge dessen werden die Gedanken Porters hinsichtlich hybrider Strategien angeführt. Ergänzend hierzu werden die wichtigsten hybriden Strategien erklärt. Furthermore, because of plans for massive investments in the public infrastructure, the energy and water supply systems as well in the education and health systems in the future, Saudi Arabia plays an important role as a business partner for German companies like the Siemens AG.Therefore the subject of this study will be the cultural disparities between the Saudi Arabian and German culture. As a first step, the Saudi Arabian Kingdom is compared briefly with the Federal Republic of Germany in a fact file. Afterwards, the term 'culture' in general is elaborated. Then the cultural theory of Geert Hofstede is explained and applied to the two societies.As an inference of this analysis, several possible major improvements in the project team cooperation are described. 28 pp. Englisch.

It is characterized by globalization of the business world which means that more and more companies compete with foreign ones by entering new markets or introducing new products that are available everywhere through disappearing barriers and boundaries. As a consequence the question arises how companies follow their expansion strategies. A central issue linked to this question is the entry mode decision, because it is essential for the success of the globalization activities of a company.One possible entry mode is called franchising which is used by a lot of well-known companies worldwide. The focus of this term paper is to evaluate this type of entry mode based on the example of Subway, an international operating fast food chain.To accomplish this purpose, the theory of market entry modes is explained in the beginning. Further an overview of the different entry modes is given in order to highlight the differences between them. After that franchising as a mode of entry is explained in detail. As a result of presenting the theory a profile of Subway follows. Furthermore the market entry strategy of Subway is analyzed regarding the fact how franchising influenced the expansion of the company in general. After that the market entry into the Chinese market and its challenges is explained. To conclude the term paper, the theory and the practical example is summarized in order to outline whether Subway enters new markets efficiently and how franchising as a market entry mode influences the expansion of the company against the backdrop of the example. 24 pp. Englisch.

Porter. This framework is related to the hypothesis that only generic strategies in their pure form would lead to above average performance in competition. Besides that, other authors described strategy models consisting of combinations of the generic strategies called combination or hybrid strategies although these theories contradict the hypothesis of porter.The purpose of this work is to find evidence for the existence and the performance of hybrid strategies in comparison to generic ones.Therefore the first step is an explanation of competitive advantages. Then the coherence of return on investment and market share is explained. Further competitive advantages are derived from that relationship. After that the generic competitive strategies are annotated as a way to achieve competitive advantages. Besides that the hypothesis of inconsistency concerning hybrid strategies by Porter is explained. In addition the hybrid strategies are elucidated. In the last part of this work evidence for the existence and performance of these strategies shall be proven on an empirical basis by evaluating different studies from different authors. 28 pp. Englisch.

One theoretical framework explaining financial crises of that kind was envisioned by Hyman P. Minsky (1919-1996) in the latter half of the 20th century and was not considered in this context for a long time. The most prominent part of the theoretical framework, the financial instability hypothesis (FIH), emphasises that 'modern capitalist system is prone to bouts of relative instability and financial collapse. When the storm in 2007 broke it was discovered again and the world began to talk about a 'Minsky moment'. Prominent economics called the theory a required reading and championed it as visionary. Therefore it is no surprise that the book about his FIH was traded at prices over 2000 US$ right after the financial crisis.Until the year 2007 the economic world followed another school of thought. The so-called neoclassic described a world in which financial crises would only occur if ex-ogenous shocks would disturb the self-regulating power of the markets. In detail this is called the efficient market hypothesis (EMH). In addition means this that financial crises caused by systemically reason are not part of the theoretical model.On the contrary, Minsky described a cyclical model which tries to implement loan rela-tionships, financial institutions, financial innovations and uncertainty in the analysis of the modern capitalism. An emphasis lays on the financing structure of different eco-nomic players and the role of financial institutions regarding their influence on the real economy. Minsky's theory is based on the whole economic cycle and really tries to explain how financial crises are actually caused. Additionally other authors see the thoughts of Minsky as an acknowledged theory regarding financial crises in the past. Although all these factors make the theory interesting for the recent crisis and different economics had called the financial crisis a Minsky moment a huge discussion if the theory is really applicable came up. Further if the theory is really applicable the next question would be which consequences have been drawn in order to prevent another crisis. 56 pp. Englisch.
