Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book is a collection of essays that depict the evolution of English Gothic architecture. The essays describe the distinct characteristics of each period of English Gothic architecture, beginning with the round arches and simple designs of the Norman era and progressing to the high…ly ornamented and complex buildings of the late Gothic period. The essays explore how political, cultural, and religious factors influenced the historical development of English Gothic architecture, and provide a comprehensive overview of the subject. The author argues that English Gothic architecture was as much an expression of cultural identity and national pride as it was a religious and functional building style. This well-researched and informative book will be of interest to anyone with a passion for architecture, English history, or the Gothic period. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

pp. xiv, 90. Frontispiece and 43 illustrations. Original cloth, a very good copy. *Beddington is a suburban settlement in the London Borough of Sutton on the boundary with the London Borough of Croydon. Beddington is formed from a village of the same name which until early the 20th century still included land which became termed… entirely as Wallington. The latter was in the 13th century shown on local maps as Hakebrug, and named after a bridge on the River Wandle. The locality has a landscaped wooded park at Beddington Park also known as Carew Manor; and a nature reserve and sewage treatment works in the centre and to the north of its area respectively. The population of Beddington according to the 2011 census is 21,044.
