Im neuen kommunistischen System zeigen sich bald wieder antisemitische Strömungen, und weil Heddy nie wieder Verfolgung erleben will, entschließt sie sich zur Emigration. Zwar gelingt in Australien der mühsame Aufbau einer neuen Existenz, doch der innere Kampf um Identität dauert an.
