From the Introduction The present work is an attempt of inventorying the Mantid fauna of Orissa state based on the faunal exploration studies conducted by the Zoological Survey of India Estuarine Biological Station Gopalpur on sea during the years 2005 to 2007. Females are important pollinators which have a specialised pollen-carrying structure on the underside of the abdomen. Trachusa bees are solitary although usually construct their nests in aggregations. For those species whose breeding biology is known,nest cells are made from resin and pieces of green leaves. Trachusa has a world-wide distribution. This publication is the first comprehensive overview and guide to the 25 species found in Europe, Africa and Asia. It provides descriptions of all species and gives separate identification keys to females and males. All species are illustrated, with altogether 205 colour micro photographs and over 50 line drawings showing morphological details. The species accounts are further supported ny distribution maps and graphs depicting seasonal occurences. This publication hereby summarises our knowledge and attempts to stimulate further research in the taxonomy, biology and ecology of this still little-known group of insects.…

The pteromalids (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea: Pteromalidae) are small parasitic wasps feeding as larvae on the immature stages of other species of insects (mainly) and spiders (rarely) and also many of them are phytophagous. These are one of the numerous and economically important groups of parasitoids regulating the abundance of many insects, including xylophagous ones. The family is distributed in all biogeographical areas of the wolr and shows great diversity in morphology and biology. It contains more than 600 valid genera and more than 3500 valid species. The present fauna volume deals with the consolidated account on 196 species under 47 genera of the subfamily Eumeninae of family Vespidae from India for the first time. During 1989, Das and Gupta published a monograph on social wasps of India and adjacent counties. So, in this work, we are not provided a detailed account on social wasp subfamilies (Stenogastrinae, Polistinae, and Vespinae). Instead, we provided a detailed and updated checklist of them (with 94 species under 11 genera) and also the subfamily Masarinae (With only one species). In this work, three species, namely, Cyrtolabulus bishnoius sp. nov., Cyrtolabulus carpenteri sp. no., and Paraleptomenes tamilensis sp. nov., are described as new to science.…
