Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: New. ITPE Edition. How can Christians engage meaningfully with history? In an age underpinned by the idea that life is about self-invention and fulfilment, contemporary Western culture holds that the past has little to teach us. We live in what this book terms the "Ahistoric Age," in which we are profoundly disconnected from history. In the attempt to appear relevant, the church often embraces this ahistoric worldview by jettisoning the historic ideas and practices of Christian formation. But this has unintended consequences, leaving Christians unmoored from history and losing the ability to grapple with its ethical complexities. In Priests of History, Sarah Irving-Stonebraker draws upon her expertise, and her experience as an atheist who has become a Christian, to examine what history is and why it matters. If Christians can learn how to be "priests of history," tending and keeping our past, history can help us strengthen and revive our spiritual and intellectual formation and equip us to communicate the gospel in a confused and rootless world.

Añadir al carrito"Lion edition." 255pp, (5.25 x 7.75 inches). Good condition / No dust jacket. Hard cover, tan boards, Light wear to boards, corners, edges and spine ends rubbed, tiny bumps at the tips. Page edges soiled, but contents clean and unmarked. No tears, chips or creases. "Thomas Stone" is one of many pseudonyms used by Florence Stonebraker, a California author of over 80 novels. The book states that the copyright for this book is held by Phoenix Press (who published her other hard cover books), so I assume this is a reprint. Many of her books were paperbacks with sensational (sexy) covers. There is a brief plot description printed at the front of this novel: "Madelon, 'Internationally Known Psychic,' was the way the club El Rico billed its fortune teller. Only the lady's boss, Nick Ryan, and a few others realized that Madelon, was the same Maida Dillon who had danced in the club's floor show. They took it for granted that she was Nick's mistress.".
