Añadir al carritoCondición: Fine. Art Design: Soheyl Dahi Ilustrador. Signed; Limited Edition Broadside of an Edition of 26 lettered copies. This print is outside the lettered copiers. GIFT QUALITY. Jack Hirschman (1933) is an American poet and social activist who has written more than 50 volumes of poetry and essays. For a quarter century, Hirschman has roamed San Francisco streets, cafes (including Caffe Trieste, where he has been a regular patron), and readings, becoming an active street poet and a peripatetic activist. Hirschman is also a painter and collagist, and has translated over two dozen books from German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Albanian, and Greek. "What a relief to find a poet who is not afraid of the vulgar or the sentimental, who can burst out laughing or cry his head off in poetry - who can make love to language, or kick it in the pants." Poet Karl Shapiro. Fun Fact: Jim Morrison of The Doors fame was a student in a class taught by Hirschman at UCLA.

Fine condition. 16mo., pictorial wraps; 22 pages One of 26 lettered copies (this is G) out of a total edition of 126 copies, of which 100 were numbered instead of lettered. With an original acrylic painting on hand-made Indian paper by Soheyl Dahj tipped in and signed by Humphrey and Dahj on the limitation page. Also, with a never-before published photo of Leonard tipped in. This is the story of Robert Humphrey, British poet, who came into a chance meeting with Cohen in King David Street in Jerusalem in 1973. He spotted Cohen in the crowd and proceeded to follow him. Finally, Cohen wised up to this young man who was stalking him and typical for Leonard, he stopped and asked him why and then if he wants to have lunch with him. They spent the afternoon talking and this event was a transformative event in Humphrey's life and in this book he talks about it at length. Signed.

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: New. Illustrated by Soheyl Dahi Ilustrador. Remember when you took photos with your camera, took the film to be developed, got back 4 by 6 prints (or even smaller), and put them in albums to enjoy and share with your family and friends? You didn't take thousands, you thought about what you wanted, and they weren't on your phone! Poet, artist publisher and photographer Soheyl Dahi has recently published a series of 5 albums of 4x6 black and white photos from his collection of primarily Beat Generation people and places that evoke an earlier time. As Soheyl puts it in his introduction:My name is Soheyl Dahi and l am the publisher of Sore Dove Press. I've had the good fortune of knowing and publishing some of the poets of the Beat Generation among otherpoets. Two in particular (Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Jack Hirschman) were dear friends of mine who mentored me in publishing, writing poetry and also on how to lead an ethical life. I am forever indebted to them.Since photography is one of my three passions (the other two are art and poetry), I always had a camera with me (before the invention of cell phones). Everywhere I went I took photos, Just for myself to have a record of the events or maybe I was too aware that life is transitory and needed to be documented. On January 1, 2022 I decided to organize my photos from years and decades past. Each photo triggered a memory and located me in a time and a place with all the people that I've met along the way. Then I got to thinking that it would be a shame not to share these photographs with like-minded people. So here they are presented to you in the most economical way I could think of.I hope vou enjoy these photos and get a sense of the times we lived in.This album #II, with 46 B&W photos, signed and stamped on the colophon. Each photo can be removed from the album and has a descritive comment hand written on the back. There was originally a limited edition of 12 of each of the five sets, this #I is one of two printed out of series. We also have the other four.; Each set is in a black album, protected by a black box. All are new, acquired directly from Dahi's Sore Dove Press.
