Millionaires make enemies, but in-fighting high up among the international financial set is rarely visible to the naked eye. Parnell Ilustrador. Call Tim Parnell, they told millionaire Thomas Garfield after somebody had bombed his private plane, killing three out of four passengers. Millionaires make enemies, but in-fighting high up among the international financial set is rarely visible to the naked eye. Parnell's eyes were better than most, however. He also had a keen sense of smell, and this one had the distinct odor of underworld connections. This connection was an expensive blonde. Occupation: Mistress. Sole survivor of the blast. She was his only lead. And the view was tantalizing. Lethal, in fact. Language: eng.

In reading this diary it will be well to remember that it has with definite reason not been embellished or altered in any way from the original scrawl in an old French notebook. It is a jotted down, rambling description of events day by day, strung together anyhow with no definite aim in view either to use or publish. rather a mere pastime, just as one would take a hand at cards, or play the mouth-organ, it is just a simple narration of how that big war in our time, touched the life of one, Smithie in France. A good , tight and clean copy.

Añadir al carritoVarious colours. James Smith, the Oxford Street Ballad Seller, is photographed on p.184 of Leslie Shepard's 'The Broadside Ballad' 1962. With the cards is an ALS from him to Leslie Shepard with a carbon copy of Shepard's reply 11th November 1954 and a TLS from the Bethnal Green Central Public Library 1962 giving information about Smith, who lost an arm and leg in a workplace accident in 1930. Smith describes his career as a travelling seller but does not answer Shepard's pencilled questions about how he started writing. On some cards he gives his age as 65. The poems are on political and topical subjects: Why Hitler Hates Stalin, What Our Seamen Think "post to someone", West the Tipster, That's Stalin, The Dictator (after Charlies Chaplin) &c.
