Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This thorough study of Portsmouth's history from its earliest mention in ancient texts to its modern importance as a naval hub offers a complete picture of a city holding a pivotal place in English history. Spanning medieval fortifications to the present dockyards and landmarks, the narrative traces Portsmouth's profound significance, not only as England's premier naval base, but as a witness to many of England's most pivotal moments.
