Paperback small octavo (with flaps), very good condition, black & white text-photos, minimal foxing top edge, minor edgewear. 268 pp. A privately published story of a Jewish-Polish woman, Cili Duman, mother of the author Sissel Green, who was aided in writing by Stan Christie. Cili escaped the Nazis in 1939 to Tadzikistan in Cen…tral Asia. After the war, she was a refugee in Germany, then sailed to Palestine in the ill-fated 'Exodus 1947â, but these illegal refugees were sent by the British (in Mandate Palestine) back to Germany. Finally, she settled in Israel. A profoundly inspirational narrative which, in dealing with the heartbreak of familial separation and the horrors of war and the Holocaust, soars above its sombre subject matter. (An edition of 5000 copies. The author lives in Buderim, Queensland. Printed in Queensland.).
