She also authored two studies on the worsening ecological conditions in and around Lake Chad as its waters disappeared. Also trained as an educator Sikes taught in missionary schools in a number of African countries and helped set up and organise Evangelical Christian fellowship groups among students in Nigeria and Kenya.
