Hardcover. Condición: Near Fine. Near fine condition overall, in a sturdy dark-green cloth binding commissioned privately to preserve the complete illustrated text of "Pygmalion' as it appeared in "Everybody's Magazine" (November 1914). The boards show light rubbing, scattered faint spotting, and mild softening at the corners, but remain clean and presentable with bright green titling. The text block is solid and the inner hinges—likely reinforced at an early date—hold firmly. The magazine leaves are lightly toned with age, but the pages are clean and supple, with no tears or staining, and the May Wilson Preston illustrations remain sharp and well-impressed. The endpapers exhibit scattered foxing, most noticeably on the front pastedown. Overall, the volume retains an appealing period character while offering stable and readable preservation of the work. This is a privately bound issue of the first American appearance of "Pygmalion," published in "Everybody's Magazine" just before the play's book publication. The binding collects the full illustrated serial text, presenting Shaw's play alongside Preston's distinctive drawings—images unique to this magazine printing and not reproduced in later editions. Though not a publisher's first edition, the volume represents an important early state of Shaw's iconic work and reflects period collecting practices in which readers chose to preserve notable magazine issues in durable custom bindings. From the personal collection of Tony Walton (1934-2022), Academy Award- and multiple Tony Award-winning stage and costume designer, celebrated for his imaginative work in stage and film.…

Sieben Bände. 327, 385 (1), 398, 338 (1), 474 (1), 429 (1) und 402 (6) Seiten. Titel- u. rückenvergoldete Original-Ganz-Pergament-Einbände mit Kopfgoldschnitt in ansprechender Erhaltung ! 18,5x12x17 cm George Bernard Shaw, meist auf eigenen Wunsch nur Bernard Shaw genannt (* 26. Juli 1856 in Dublin, Irland; 2. …
