In 153 pages with 28 illustrations throughout text, many in full color. A FIRST EDITION, unknown printing, from 1904, this 8vo (7" x 9") has tan cloth-covered boards stamped with an elaborate design & lettering in white to front & spine (heavily faded to this latter). Condition is Fair: generally quite clean, but the stitched binding has loosened & some of the very early pages have been secured with cellophane tape that is now heavily yellowed. Rest of the text block is securely stitched. Gift inscription & charming personalized note to free front endpaper (ffep) in pencil dated 1910 (we never erase these in tribute to those long-ago little readers), else, pages are creamy white with moderate tanning & the occasional stain or smudge or short tear--no markings.
