No Additional Printings. Hardback. Signed Presentation Copy. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 180 pages; 4 p. index; Preface by Rene Huyghe; from the dj: "This challenging book by an author who has lived and worked in the the art world for his entire life raises fundamental questions with which sensitive people in all fields should deal. Although chiefly concerned with standards and origins of taste in art, Mr. Seligman's keen understanding of how judgments are made--and of how judgments should be better made--points the way toward new and fresh evaluations and real rather than synthetic experiences. .Fifty-nine illustrations placed in the text throughout the book serve to high-light the arguments with which Mr. Seligman leads up to a rewarding discussion on objectivity, the direct approach toward art, and its potential effect upon the art world." This is a signed and dated (in ink) presentation copy, on the front fly; Book condition: the front lower cover corner shows some board, else VG; the dj has circa 2 sq.inches of area missing, scattered along the bottom panels, else in Good condition. Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Fair. I begin with the good news: First edition of this scarce title and the text is clean and unmarked, binding tight, and no indications of previous ownership. At least a Very Good book. However, I have little positive to say about the DJ which has been clipped, is missing a chunk at the bottom of the spine and has a few smaller tears elsewhere. But what an interesting story about the art market amply supported by numerous photographs.

This light blue paper covered hard cover has a rough spine with the paper covering present but splitting off/ cracking. Also the boards have some fading and mild soiling with a thin water stain along the heel of the spine area. Binding is still mostly good although the hinge is exposed at the title page and front board feels slightly loose. Pages still anchored.

Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book places itself centrally within the discourse on the origins of life on earth. Its thorough literary analysis of Charles Darwin's seminal Volume I of On the Origin of Species introduces a lyrical quality to what is typically presented as a scientific theory. The author's insights into Darwin's motivations and the social and intellectual context of his work expose the complexity of the debate over natural selection and the genesis of life. By exploring the intersection of science and humanity, this book offers a unique perspective on one of the most influential texts in Western scientific history, challenging readers to rethink their understanding of the origins of life and the nature of scientific inquiry itself. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
