In der globalisierten Welt ist nun der Flug in die Karibik so alltäglich wie früher die Fahrt in den Bayerischen Wald. An diesen Selbstverständlichkeiten des modernen Tourismus setzt das Buch an. Der Autor fragt kritisch nach, welche persà nlichen und gesellschaftlichen Anforderungen als heimliches Reisegepäck mitgenommen werden. Um diese sichtbar zu machen, erà ffnet er einen weiten theoretischen Horizont. Zunächst steht in der Kritik die Selbstverständlichkeit, wie heutzutage von "der Globalisierung" die Rede ist.
