Book is clean and bright with unmarked text, free of inscriptions and stamps, firmly bound. Issued without a dust jacket. -- This book investigates the complex relationship between art, politics, and social movements, focusing on how artistic practices influence and reflect political change. It explores the ways in which cultural interventions challenge institutional norms, shape ethical considerations, and contribute to political discourse. The text highlights examples of contemporary artistic practices that transcend traditional boundaries, engaging with critical issues such as democracy, civic engagement, and social justice. It examines the role of art in addressing global challenges, including the refugee crisis, nuclear power debates, and the construction of political identities. Through diverse case studies, the book demonstrates how art serves as a tool for both critique and transformation, particularly in relation to power structures, societal norms, and public space. Additionally, it delves into the aesthetics of protest, the performative aspects of political activism, and the potential for art to foster experimental democratic practices. Ultimately, the work offers a comprehensive analysis of the intersection between art and politics, providing valuable insights into the cultural dynamics that shape contemporary social movements. -- Contents: Introduction; Part I: The Missing Scene 1. Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. 2019 Cambridge Scholars Publishing hardcover edition. Light reading wear else very good condition. From the cover: As reflected in the title of the book, the contributions here describe a series of artistic and activist actions in different places sing different forms of aesthetic styles to challenge the existing order of things. Nine chapters present specific situations in Europe and the US in a multilocal dialogue. This multifaceted collection questions contemporary ideas and actions in the face of the Great Transition. It offers a suite of case studies that are linked by elective affinities, an immediate and intuitive accordance between both the activists and the authors despite their differences. All actors tend to reflect a similar concern for their direct environment in proposing and documenting utopian forms which are also dealing with the past and present with a form of tenderness for the 'here and there'. This shared sympathetic interest explains why the book also corresponds to a form of engaged scholarship. The chapters contribute to the long roll of historical debates and conflicts on "what is to be done" at present and in the near and distant future.
