Taschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware - 'Sex in Civilization' stands as a monumental inquiry into the intersection of human sexuality and the development of modern society. Edited by V.F. Calverton and S.D. Schmalhausen, this comprehensive collection brings together influential minds of the early 20th century to analyze how sexual attitudes, practices, and taboos shape the fabric of civilization. The work delves into various perspectives-ranging from the biological and psychological to the sociological and anthropological-to challenge traditional Victorian moralities and explore the emerging sexual ethics of the era.The volume examines the role of sex in art, literature, and domestic life, while also addressing the psychological complexities of desire and repression. By investigating the historical evolution of sexual norms, the contributors offer a provocative critique of social institutions and the impact of sexual regulation on human happiness. 'Sex in Civilization' remains a significant historical document for readers interested in the intellectual history of sociology and the academic roots of modern social studies.
