Each has colored cloth-covered boards (this one is in black with silver lettering & design to spine) with a decorative full-color paper pastedown on the front cover. There is also a full-color frontispiece & 7 lovely full-color internal plates by artists Mead Schaeffer & John R. Neill. In 455 pages + a 5-page Introduction by editor P. S. Allen from the University of Chicago. Orig. published in this format in 1924 this is the 1935 edition. Hardcover book is in Good condition: generally very clean, with random smudges. The binding is strong & square, but 2 pages following the title page have been excised & the rear hinge is cracked, as is the hinge before the frontispiece. Pages are creamy white with moderate tanning around edges, commensurate with age. Name stamp in light brown atop all pages in front matter only & date Oct. 1936 written inside front cover; NO other writing or underlining or highlighting; not ex-lib. Moderate rubbing to extremities, heaviest at all corners & both ends of spine, where cloth is worn & frayed down to underlying boards. NO DJ.
