Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book is an examination of the life and poetic work of Santeul, a 17th-century Latin poet and hymnodist. Despite the shift in literary taste towards the French language during the reign of Louis XIV, Santeul's Latin verse gained popularity as a medium for religious expression. The author explores Santeul's unique blend of classical form and Christian themes, examining the ways in which his work both reflected and contributed to the religious and cultural landscape of his time. The analysis delves into the debates surrounding Santeul's legacy, including recent challenges to his standing as a leading figure in Latin poetry. Ultimately, the book offers a nuanced assessment of Santeul's contribution to literature and liturgy, highlighting the enduring power of his verse to evoke both the sacred and the secular. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

Paperback. Condición: New.
