The te…rm 'social class' was developed in the 18th and 19th centuries and has been used widely, particularly by sociologists and political-economic theorists such as Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, Jean Jacques Rousseau, Karl Marx, Max Weber, Ralf Dahrendorf and so on (Encyclopaedia Britannica, 2012). It is clear that societies have been stratified into various classes (Roberts, 2001).Social inequality and the differences between people are two such obvious characteristics in every society that it has become necessary to classify society into the different classes (Crompton and Gubbay, 1980). Furthermore, Steenberge (2012) states that 'normally, individuals are grouped into classes based on their economic positions and similar political and economic interests within their culture'. Inequalities can be seen as being stratified on the basis of social class and this has been a main area of Marx's theory. Social class is a key to comprehending the different social opportunities available to different social groups and individuals in societies (Marsh et al, 2000).In the Communist Manifesto, Marx saw the whole of society as likely to have just two huge classes; Bourgeoisie and Proletariat, which come into direct conflict with one another, especially in capitalist societies (Crompton, 1993). Whilst, Weber's viewpoint about social class is analogous with Marx perspective, he supposed that having private property could have a role in the formation of social classes in societies (Reid, 1981). He also assumed that the variances between social classes in society might be a source of social conflict between them but viewed the conflict in a different way to Marx, as Weber had seen that the social struggle between the classes over making goods as a normal conflict in all societies. A further divergence in Dahrendorf and Marx perspectives is that the former focuses on the amount of power to explain the structure of social class in society.

In addition, the research design employed a qualitative methodology. After getting consent, in-depth semi-structured interviews were conducted with male participants and the data gathered from three interviewees chosen on the basis of different demographic backgrounds, being from the United Kingdom. The thematic analysis method is to analyse transcribed data. The results of this exploratory research of culture shock and stress; many themes have been specified and explained; such as language, food, weather, dress, education system, technology, and transportation. They are related to the sources of the culture shock, the effect of shock on the international students and the attempts to reduce the culture shock. Also, several themes have been specified, explained and analysed below in terms of sources of pressure, that influence of international students in the UK during studies such as language, academics, differences of culture and homesickness. Also, some benefits of study abroad and methods to decrease stress have been given.

Darüber hinaus wurde für die Studie eine qualitative Methodik verwendet. Nach Einholung der Zustimmung wurden ausführliche, halbstrukturierte Interviews mit männlichen Teilnehmern durchgeführt. Die Ergebnisse dieser explorativen Studie zur nationalen Identität zeigen, dass diese eine wirksame und wichtige Rolle beim Aufbau des Staates spielt. Zu diesem Zweck haben die irakischen Kurden ihre eigene nationale Identität, wie Sprache, Land und Kultur. Allerdings gibt es bei diesen drei Elementen noch Probleme. So haben die Kurden im Irak beispielsweise keine Standardsprache und kein unabhängiges Land, und ihre Kultur ist für ihren Tribalismus bekannt. Darüber hinaus haben die Kurden kein Problem mit der Religion als Element der nationalen Identität, aber sie konnten die Religion nicht zum Schutz nationaler Interessen und zum Aufbau eines kurdischen Staates nutzen, und sie haben eine lange Geschichte im Nahen Osten. Schließlich wünschen sich die irakischen Kurden heute die Trennung von der Zentralregierung.

For instance, Kurds in Iraq do not have a standard language or independent land, and their culture is known to tribalism. Furthermore, Kurds do not have problem with the religion as elements of national identity, but they could not use the religion for protecting national interests and building a Kurdish state; and they have a long history in the Middle East.Finally, nowadays, Iraqi Kurds wish to separate with the central government. 100 pp. Englisch.
