No Binding. Condición: Very Good. Original publisher's leaflet printed in black ink on light beige paper. No date, circa 1927-1930s. 3 1/4" x 6." One leaf of paper printed on front and back. Leaflet is very clean and intact except for light age toning, slight wrinkling, a horizontal fold line at center, and four small closed tears at the edges (two measuring 1/4" on right edge from front and two at top and bottom edges each measuring 3/8"). A Very Good copy. This is a promotional leaflet advertising a free copy of The Secret Heritage, a book published by the Rosicrucians of the Ancient and Mystical Order Rosae Crucis (AMORC), also known as the Rosicrucian Order. The Secret Heritage is a self-help book that is meant to help one discover their path and happiness in life. This particular ad references the Rosicrucians of Rosicrucian Park, San Jose, California. AMORC is the largest Rosicrucian organization in the world. Rosicrucianism is a spiritual and cultural esoteric movement that first made its appearance in seventeenth-century Europe. Many Rosicrucians state that the principles and tenets of Rosicrucianism can be traced to a number of cultures and movements including ancient Egypt, Brahmanism, the Pythagoreans, the Arabs, and Persia. Rosicrucian Park is the headquarters of AMORC's English Grand Lodge of the Americas. It was established in 1927 by Harvey Spencer Lewis. The park still stands to this day and the following have since been constructed on the property: the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum (1932), the Planetarium (1936), and a research library (1939).…

2 parts in 1 volume. Part I: (16) ff. 1 engraved and 12 woodcut plates, all hand-coloured. Part II: (17) ff. 12 hand-coloured woodcut plates. (15) ff. 11 hand-coloured woodcut plates. - Folio (285 x 450 mm). Modern half-leather binding with gilt lettering and decoration to spine, green marbled boards. "Of the utmost rarity" (Duveen): the first edition of the classic work on Rosicrucian symbolism, all the rarer for all three parts being bound in one volume. Although Rosicrucian literature stretches back into the seventeenth century, Rosicrucianism as a practice emerged in the 1760s, making this volume essential early testimony to the emerging movement that would become foundational for modern European esotericism. - The first part is introduced with the allegorical text "Aureum saeculum redivivum" ("The Golden Age Restored") by Henricus Madathanus, the pseudonym of the seventeenth-century German alchemist Adrian von Mynsicht (1603-38), followed by several detailed and handsomely coloured plates illustrating the mystic principles outlined therein. The second begins with a text "by a still living, but anonymous philosopher", and further plates, on the model of the previous volume. - The third part was published under a different title, although clearly on the model of the previous volumes. The text is attributed to a Rosicrucian brother of the initials P.F., with illustrations by another known as P.S. The plates in this final part are more elaborate and ambitious, and depict the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, with two trunks and roots stretching into two different spheres, with hands reaching out to ripe and to rotten fruits; also depicted is the Mons Philosophorum, or Mountain of Philosophers, showing the crown of wisdom at the peak, guarded by monsters and perils along the way. - Mystic tracts asserting the existence of a brotherhood of Rosicrucians appeared in Europe in the seventeenth century, depicting a movement that blended Kabbalah, Hermeticism, Alchemy and Christian mysticism. Particularly influential was the allegorical romance, "The Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz", published by the German theologian Johann Valentin Andreae (1586-1654) in 1616. Although Andreae described the work as a parody and disowned the Rosicrucianism it portrayed, it became widely influential among contemporary alchemists. In the later eighteenth century, actual Rosicrucian brotherhoods began to emerge, and were essential in shaping the European esoteric movements that were founded over the coming years, notably the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. - An extreme rarity: Rare Book Hub lists only two copies of the first editions of Volumes I-II sold since 1985, both lacking the third part, of which only one copy is listed in 2009. - A rare and foundational work of European esoteric thought. - Modern binding in excellent condition. Title of part I mounted, eight further leaves with small restored loss to lower part of inner white margin, last plate and one text-leaf in the final part trimmed and mounted. Scattered spotting and staining, but pages overall clean and clear, in very good condition. - Acquired from a European private collection. - Kloss 2661. Gardner 257. Wolfstieg 42429. Duveen 241. Not in Caillet, Bibliotheca Esoterica, or Rosenthal.…

Summary: "If, as the Author says, Plato enriched by his philosophic vision, the modern is impoverish by his unbelief. Here is a book that maintains that all facts must answers to the question, Why? Not how, when, or what. Why, in no other sense than why. Science is not based upon facts, but upon observation, experiment, logic, reason, and opinion - until 'why' has been established. Science has not been fair, just, nor equitable in it examination of metaphysics. It has not been 'scientific' in its examination. It has reasoned from prejudices rather than from available day. Opinions may be intriguing, but they demonstrate nothing; they neither prove nor disprove anything. Mysticism is not a vagary; it is a distinct department of learning which, if given proper consideration and opportunity, could make a definite contribution to normalcy and well being. And so, a book on occult anatomy. Convinced of immortality, the sages of antiquity viewed the human body not as the man but the house of the man. The science of the soul occupied first place. The masters of three Academies often pointed out some analogy in human organ or function in justifying an abstract conclusion. Hitherto the 'anatomy of the philosophers' has existed only in a fragmentary state, eluding the casual reader. Now are gathered and reduced to order brilliant gems of though an engrossing theme, the mystic lore of the human body." Features detailed seventeen-page index. 255 pages. Insured post. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Vesalius, Andreus; Fludd, Robert; da Vince, Leonardo; Various Rosicrucians; et Al. (ilustrador).…
