Paperback. Condición: New. A unique anthology for crime aficionados - six 'perfect murder' stories written by the most accomplished crime writers of the 1930s, designed to fox real-life Scotland Yard Superintendent Cornish, who comments on whether or not these crimes could have genuinely been solved. Is the 'perfect murder' possible? Can that crime be committed with such consummate care, with such exacting skill, that it is unsolvable - even to the most astute investigator? In this unique collection, legendary crime writers Margery Allingham, Anthony Berkeley, Freeman Wills Crofts, Ronald Knox, Dorothy L. Sayers and Russell Thorndike each attempt to create the unsolvable murder, which Superintendent Cornish of the CID then attempts to unravel. This clever literary battle of wits from the archives of the Detection Club follows The Floating Admiral and Ask a Policeman back into print after more than 75 years, and shows some of the experts from the Golden Age of detective fiction at their most ingenious.…

November, 1955 / whole number 46/ issue number 12 under the name Inside and Science Fiction Advertiser (which is the last name for the famed sci-fi / fantasy fanzine, which was also published under the earlier names "Fantasy Advertiser" and "Science Fiction Advertiser", though the primary focus was always Science Fiction). Ron Smith became the Editor/Publisher with the November, 1954 issue, which was also the first under this name. Octavo, stapled illustrated wraps, 42 pp. Very Good plus to about near fine; two chips at bottom front cover, peripheral toning (see scans). s This November / 1955 issue was published as Ron Smith was continuing to improve the fanzine, which had been erratic in quality in prior years; 1956, yet to come, would be perhaps the best year. Though credited artwork is still sparse, there's plenty inside to enjoy; a rare short story - "Infiltration" by Carl Larsen - and articles, editorials, essays and reviews by editor Smith, William L. Freeman, Randall Garrett, Robert Silverberg, Lin Carter, Dave Mason, James Blish, George W. Price, Carl Larsen, Joe Schaumburger, R.S. Montague, S. Añadir al carritoHard Cover. Dust Jacket. First Edition. (London: Selwyn & Blount n.d. [1936]). First UK Edition. Publisher's salmon pink cloth with the spine lettered in black. The book is dated by the 32-page Spring Catalogue at the rear. Faint offsetting to both sets of end-papers and light foxing to the first few pages of the book overall a bright and clean near fine copy. In the RARE D/W priced 7/6 net to the spine by Youngman Carter which is two-toned each half showing a different scene: to the left in blue has Scotland Yard; to the right in red has a scene on the Thames Embankment with a policeman. The D/W has a slither of loss at the head and tail of the spine (not affecting any lettering) and has a short 1 cm closed tear and associated crease to the bottom edge of the front panel. Six short stories by leading Detection Club authors each illustrating a perfect murder. Each story is then followed by a superb commentary by Ex-Superintendent Cornish, CID detailing how the seemingly perfect murder could have been solved. A much nicer copy than normally seen of this rare book and a very nice copy indeed. Haycraft Queen Cornerstone. Photographs/scans available upon request.…
