Twelve major categories of damage are derived from examination of 157 machinery-altered specimens. The described categories include keys to category recognition, plow trajectory, and potential fortuitous-versus-Intentional retouch identification errors. The kinds and extent of plow damage represented in the cache assemblage serve to point out the necessity for extreme caution in assigning functional attributes to lithic specimens from routinely cultivated fields.
