Dust jacket lightly rubbed; slight bumping at upper fore-edge folds. Dark blue cloth; bright gilt stamped lettering to spine; mild bumping at boards' upper fore-edges. Past… owner's name and date in ink on front pastedown; author's three-line ink inscription to same owner on title page; laid-in between pages 214-215 is bookmark from Jackson, Mississippi's Lemuria bookstore where the book was presumably purchased; interior pages are otherwise bright and clean. Binding is firm. Robert Lewis Berman relates his experiences as well as those of fellow members of Temple Beth El, a synagogue serving a small but resilient Jewish community established in the late 1800s in Lexington, Mississippi, a town, like most in the South, predominately populated by Christian denominations. Vanity publisher Booksurge (now part of Amazon's CreateSpace print-on-demand services) issued A HOUSE OF DAVID IN THE LAND OF JESUS in 2007 presumably as an author-financed book but long-established and respected New Orleans publisher Pelican Publishing Company reissued the book in 2009 with OCLC citing its pagination as xxix, 354 so perhaps Pelican performed some editorial emendations to the prefatory material.
