With non-clipped, colour dust-wrapper (designed by Elizabeth Fort) in VG condition (cellotape repairs to inner top of wrapper, light fox-marks to top portion of inner, small creases, rubs & chips). Small stamp to f.e.p of book, indicating that this copy is from the library of the botanist Richard Sidney Richmond Fitter (see accompanying photograph). Summary of contents: Hart's persuasive and energetic narrative focuses on the preservation of upland ecology to support an attractive and "functional" landscape. Taking an holistic approach to the regeneration of the uplands; "practical training in conservation, reclamation, agriculture and ancillary crafts", would, he argues, place upland landscapes in the forefront of wholesome food production in addition to spiritual uplift.
