Clean throughout on soft white paper with no signs of use apart from slight movement to title-page inner edge; firm, square, tight binding. Scarce dust-jacket with what looks like an attempt at 3D printing on the front cover but may be just faulty register of blue/green. Clean and unclipped (2/6) the scarce wrapper is a little ragged with small tears to spine area top and tail. Hull bookseller label.     Hardcover. Good. Rand (1837-1903) was a rector in Watertown, NY, and was educated at Bowdoin and Union Theological Seminary. He was a widely published author, including many popular children's books. Green cloth with black decoration and titling on front along with repetitive leaf motif in gilt at bottom, gilt titling and decoration on spine, along with black decoration. Covers show general wear, rubbing, and scuffing, with wear/rubbing to corners and at top & tail of spine. Hinges starting. Binding is strong and tight. Pevious owner's signature at free front endpaper; mild and limited soiling to pages; otherwise interior is unmarked. 334 pp. Approx. 9.5" x 9". A very nice copy. Very scarce.
