Horizontal crease throughout, as issued (folded for distribution). Paper is lightly age-toned, especially around edges and folds. Also with an advertisement for "Ecodefense: A Field Guide to Monkeywrenching" (Edited by Dave Foreman. Forward by Ed Abbey." Earth First! is a group of radical environmentalists that formed in the American Southwest in the spring of 1980, founded by Dave Foreman, Mike Roselle, Howie Wolke, Bart Koehler, and Ron Kezar, among others. Earth First! quickly came to national attention with their "cracking" of Glen Canyon Dam activist stunt, which was performed and filmed in the spring of 1981. Edward Abbey is considered to be the "literary father" of the group. "Earth First! is the beginning of the new, bold environmental movement. And 'Earth First! The Radical Environmental Journal' is its voice. No compromise in the defense of Mother Earth!" (Dave Foreman, Editor). Rear cover half-page illustration by Brush Wolf, dated '83, is entitled "It's Not Just Defense, It's Revenge" and depicts a grizzly bear with one of its paws stuck in a metal trap. Cover story is entitled "Forest Service Logs Texas Wilderness." Lengthy "Earth First! Directory!" printed on page 12. The centerfold spread (pages 16-17) feature is entitled "Professionalism: A Discussion" which features written perspectives on the matter of professionalism amongst environmentalists from Dave Foreman, Kirk Cunningham, Randal O'Toole, Reed Noss, Ed Clark, Gerald Meral, Ron Huber, and Jim Dale Vickery. Edward Abbey's contribution on page 26 is "Forward! To Ecodefense" which is the foreword of the (then) forthcoming book "Ecodefense: A Field Guide to Monkeywrenching" ? this, therefore, may be the first appearance of that Abbey text. A full-page ad for said "Ecodefense" volume follows on page 27. Full-page ads for "The 1985 Earth First! Calendar" (page 29), "Earth First! Trinkets & Snake Oil" (page 30), and "T-shirts." (page 31). Most humans, especially those living with anxiety, are familiar with the experience of rumination. According to Merriam-Webster, rumination is "a focusing of one's attention on negative or distressing thoughts or feelings that when excessive or prolonged may lead to or exacerbate an episode of depression." It can sometimes feel impossible to escape one's mental and emotional replays of anxious triggers. With her first book, Jess presents an alternative definition for rumination. She celebrates years of storytelling about her journey of mental health/illness, faith, and young adulthood. Through poetry and creative nonfiction, she offers reflections that are meant to be pondered, replayed, and processed while in solitude and in community.

RECENT ADVANCES IN POLYPHENOL RESEARCH Plant polyphenols are secondary metabolites that constitute one of the most common and widespread groups of natural products. They are essential plant components for adaptation to the environment and possess a large and diverse range of biological functions that provide many benefits to both plants and humans. Polyphenols, from their structurally simplest forms to their oligo/polymeric versions (i.e. tannin and lignin), are phytoestrogens, plant pigments, antioxidants, and structural components of the plant cell wall. The interaction between tannins and proteins is involved in plant defense against predation, cause astringency in foods and beverages, and affect the nutritional and health properties of human and animal food plants. This seventh volume of the highly regarded Recent Advances in Polyphenol Research series is edited by Jess Dreher Reed, Victor Armando Pereira de Freitas, and Stéphane Quideau, and brings together chapters written by some of the leading experts working in the polyphenol sciences today. Topics covered include:Chemistry and physicochemistryBiosynthesis, genetics and metabolic engineeringRoles in plants and ecosystemsFood, nutrition and healthApplied polyphenolsDistilling the most recent and illuminating data available, this new volume is an invaluable resource for chemists, biochemists, plant scientists, pharmacognosists and pharmacologists, biologists, ecologists, food scientists and nutritionists.
