Adequate access to potable water is questionable for every one out of six people living today. So, the present work focus more on treatment of organic and industrial toxic pollutant contaminated water through photocatalysis. Co-precipitation based synthesized tin oxide (SnO2) nanoparticles preferred as catalyst to conduct photodegradation experiment. The crystallographic structure and cell parameters were calculated from XRD data. Tetragonal, rutile structure having calculated cell parameter a=b=4.735 nm and c=3.185 nm. As per the Scherer formula, the average crystalline size found to be 11.40 nm. Thermogravimetric study carried out for the precipitate before calcination to understand the thermo-chemical reactions happening during calcination. Finally, the photocatalytic activity was conducted against standard dye, methylene blue. The optimal concentration of 10-4M methylene blue solution found degraded gradually with help of SnO2 photocatalyst under UV irradiation. From the powder XRD, appearance of sharp and well defined Bragg's peaks confirmed the crystalline nature of the grown crystal. T The doped K2SO4 crystal is active in the UV-Vis region and it has good transparency of about 70% with lower cut-off wavelength 390 nm. The band gap of the crystal is found to be 4.6 eV and the estimated refractive index is found to be 1.37 at 532 nm. From the microhardness, the hardness value found is to be n = 3.1, that the crystal belongs to soft material category. The SHG efficiency of doped K2SO4 is 0.457 times greater than that of KDP. A estrutura cristalografica e os parametros celulares foram calculados a partir de dados de XRD. A estrutura tetragonal e rutilica com parametros de celula calculados a=b=4,735 nm e c=3,185 nm. De acordo com a formula de Scherer, o tamanho medio dos cristais e de 11,40 nm. Foi efectuado um estudo termogravimetrico do precipitado antes da calcinacao para compreender as reaccoes termoquimicas que ocorrem durante a calcinacao. Finalmente, a atividade fotocatalitica foi conduzida contra o corante padrao, azul de metileno. A concentracao optima de solucao de azul de metileno 10-4M foi gradualmente degradada com a ajuda do fotocatalisador SnO2 sob irradiacao UV.
