The Journal in which Sophia Pigot records her voyage to the Cape, and the first phase of the Settlement in Albany, though recorded by scholars, has not been published before. Other diaries which she kept have been discovered recently, and these, with family letters and personal memoranda, constitute a record of an eventful life, and a character study of a dynamic, humorous and courageous woman.".…
