This book fills the gap by providing a family of new methods. Among others, a novel convergence analysis of optimal control algorithms is introduced. The analysis refers to the topology of relaxed controls only to a limited degree and makes little use of Lagrange multipliers corresponding to state constraints. This approach enables the author to provide global convergence analysis of first order and superlinearly convergent second order methods. Further, the implementation aspects of the methods developed in the book are presented and discussed. The results concerning ordinary differential equations are then extended to control problems described by differential-algebraic equations in a comprehensive way for the first time in the literature.…

The prints are housed in the original handmade paper portfolio, which is housed in the original ribbon-tied hardcover "box." Accompanying the prints are: 1) a large sheet folded to form 4 folio pages containing essays by each of the 5 artists explaining their perspectives on modern art; the latter is adorned with 3 original designs by Alfred Russell that are hand-colored by him; and 2) a prospectus/order form for Laurels #1 and Laurels #2. Each of the prints is hinged into its original paper mat; they are separated by the original textured tissue leaves. Laurels was intended by Laurel Gallery Director Chris Ritter to be a quarterly limited edition "magazine" containing original art by important artists on paper handmade by Douglass Howell. The project was beautifully produced and quite ambitious, so much so that it had to be discontinued after only 4 issues.
