A very nice copy of an uncommon publication providing information on the oldest section of the Bosque Bello Cemetery (thought to have been established in 1798), and is the only complete listing of the headstones in that section and mapstheir precise locations. Some surface soiling to paper covers, staples tight, no foxing, marking or soiling to interior. The first 42 pages list the families and individuals interned in that section and the next 54 pages are index maps laying out the locations of the plots. A scarce copy from the organization Colin Powell founded in 1997 "to help children and youth from all socioeconomic sectors" in the United States. Reportto the Nation 1999 is primarily a detailed listing of all the organizations that had committed, to that point, to take part in the mission of America's Promise. And a lot of them there were, and there is herein from 1/2 page to a full page for each one. There's also a message from Chairman Powell, and several articles detailing progress on various fronts. Essentially, a thorough almanac on the organization through 1999. American cultural history, in an excellently preserved and very scarce specimen. L60.

From Wikipedia: "The Atlantic Council is a think tank and public policy group whose mission is to "promote constructive U.S. leadership and engagement in international affairs based on the central role of the Atlantic community in meeting the international challenges of the 21st century". It is headquartered in Washington, D.C. The Atlantic Council was founded in 1961, with the mission to encourage the continuation of cooperation between North America and Europe that began in the immediate post-war years. In its early years its work consisted largely of publishing policy papers and polling Europeans and Americans about their attitudes towards transatlantic and international cooperation. In these early years its primary focus was on economic issues mainly encouraging free trade between the two continents, and to a lesser extent to the rest of the world but it also did some work on political and environmental issues. Although the Atlantic Council did publish policy papers and monographs, Melvin Small of Wayne State University wrote that, especially in its early years, the Council's real strength lie in its connections to influential policy makers. The Council early on found a niche as "center for informal get-togethers" of leaders from both sides of the Atlantic, with members working to develop "networks of continuing communication". Report of the survey represents the culmination of two years of concerted efforts on the part of hundreds of organizations and individuals. The survey, to the best of our knowledge, is the first of its kind ever undertaken by a large metropolitan area and provides a comprehensive and detailed inventory of needs and resources. Its findings and recommendations are based on an analysis of the data by a broadly representative group of professional and lay leaders. It constitutes a master plan for the development and coordination of an efficient and effective network of community services to the mentally retarded in our County. The Survey was envisioned as the first essential step in the creation of a continuing mechanism for coordination in the planning and developing comunity services to the mentally retarded. As is noted in the introduction to the report, the ultimate objective of the Joint Agencies Project is to establish under the Joint Powers Act of California--a Mental Retardation Services Board--a mechanism unique in the field of mental retardation. Even as this publication goes to press, there is marked evidence that this objective is being successfully realized. As draft material it was not to be referenced in any publication. The goal of the Technical Working Groups of the DoD/IDA Critical Technologies Project was to develop an initial list of militarily critical technologies (and certain goods) and the mechanisms through which such technologies might be effectively transferred. This interim report is based on two to three months of research. This report should be understood to be an intermediate and tentative work product.
