The book and its contents are in mostly clean, bright condition. There is some light rubbing and one small tear to the cloth on the top spine end of the book cover. There is a repaired tear to the spine of the book cloth as well. The text pages are mostly clean and bright, but do have some beginning toning to the edges and the endpapers. The tissue guards on some of the illustrated plates are missing. "The Donnelley company aimed to produce books and periodicals with impressive modern design and mass printed commercial and reference materials. Lakeside Press produced Encyclopædia Britannica, Time Magazine, Life Magazine, promotional literature for the Model T Ford, catalogs for Sears Roebuck, among others. The Press produced high quality collectible editions for the Chicago Caxton Club and the Limited Editions Club. Donnelly was the official printer for the 1933-1934 World's Fair, "A Century of Progress," which took place on the Lake Michigan lakefront just to the east of the plant. Oglesby served three nonconsecutive terms as governor, and he also served one term as a U.S. Senator. The town of Oglesby, Illinois is named in his honor.
