Point traveled extensively among the Plateau tribes in the Pacific Northwest. In 1842, he helped establish the Mission of the Sacred Heart along the Saint Joe River in present-day Idaho for the Nez Perce and Coeur d`Alene people. During his time as a missionary, Point kept a sketchbook and made hundreds of drawings of the missions and the people they served. The navy blue cloth coverings show very little edge wear but there is some spotting on both the front and back boards. The spotting is not distinctive but does show against the dark blue cloth. The interior text is in at least near fine condition with no wear or damage to be seen anywhere. The color plates and illustrations are vivid and bright and the information in this book is considered amongst the best descriptions of indian life in the Rocky Mountain West. The dust wrapper is in very good condition with some crinkling and rubbing to the edges and panels but all in all a very nice wrapper. 274 pages.…
